Plywood / OSB deck – Single layer waterproofing system with thermal insulation

Single ply PVC-p membranes should only be applied over a continuous substrate which provides full support. Substrate materials used to form the roof deck in flat roofs should be those listed in BS 6229:2003 Flat roofs with continuously supported coverings – Code of practice.

The waterproofing system should conform to the requirements of British Standard BS EN 13956: Flexible sheets for waterproofing – Plastic and rubber sheets for roof waterproofing – Definitions and characteristics.

Axter’s ECOLINE range of PVC-p single ply membranes has been awarded BBA Agrément Certificate number 12/4947.

Supporting deck Plywood to BS EN 636 - 2 or 3 / OSB boards type 3 or 4 to BS EN 300:1997, designed in accordance with BS 6229:2003 and BS 8103 - 3.
Deck preparation

All square edges should be supported on joists or on additional noggins.

Boards should be fixed using corrosion resistant ring shank nails or screws at 150 mm centres around perimeters of panels and 300 mm along the supports.

All joints should be taped fixing tape on one side of the joint only.
Vapour control layer HYRANGER 25/25 TS torch applied.
Thermal insulation Coated glass tissue faced PIR insulation, thickness to meet required U-value laid in HYRA-STIK PU adhesive.
Waterproofing system ECOLINE ADH 1.2 mm fully bonded in ADH ADHESIVE (solvent free).
Principal details ECOLINE FM 1.2 using FM/D CONTACT ADHESIVE.
Pipe penetrations ECO/D.
Finishes Self protected system.

Product substitution

  • Above high humidity buildings the HYRANGER 25/25 TS can be replaced by Axter’s aluminium lined VAP AL.
  • ECOLINE ADH 1.2 and ECOLINE FM 1.2 can be replaced with 1.5 versions for 20 year warranty.
